4 men have been found guilty of the fatal gang rape of a student in the Indian capital Delhi last December.
The 23-year-old woman was brutally assaulted on a bus and died 2 weeks later. Her death led to days of huge protests across India in a wave of unprecedented anger.
The case forced the introduction of tough new laws to punish sexual offences. The 4 men are expected to be sentenced on Wednesday. They face the death penalty over the attack on the physiotherapy student.
Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur and Pawan Gupta denied charges including rape and murder, and lawyers for 3 of the men said they would appeal against the convictions.
The fate of two others accused in the case had already been decided. One man, Ram Singh, was found dead in his jail cell in March. Authorities said he had hanged himself, but his family claimed he had been murdered.
On Saturday, a juvenile court convicted a teenage boy for his part in the gang rape, sentencing him to 3 years in a special juvenile correctional facility. His trial was in juvenile court because he was 17 at the time of the crime, and the sentence is the maximum allowed under the court's rules.
