It has been reported that the ‘adopted mother’ of First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has died in a road accident at Elele, Rivers State, on her way to Bayelsa State.
Although details of the crash were still sketchy as at press time, the remains of the woman, popularly called Sisi, was deposited at Kpaima Mortuary, at Elechi Beach, Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The first lady was said to have adopted Sisi as a mother since she lost hers at an early age.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Angela Agabe (DSP), could not confirm the incident when contacted.
She said she was yet to learn of the incident and would only comment after being properly informed about it.
But a source close to the family said that the woman died in the crash that happened in at about 6pm Monday.
He added that the first lady was away to Geneva and that she had been contacted on the incident.
“The first lady is shocked at the death of her ‘mother’ whom she saw hale and hearty during her last visit just a few weeks ago when she came to bury her grandfather,” he said.
